Samuel Cleveland Jackson, of Sedalia, died on his 93
rd
birthday, Wednesday, March 6, 2019, at his home.
He was born March 6, 1926, in Harriet, AR, son of Samuel Cleveland and Martha Bell (Treece) Jackson.
On March 9, 1944, in Harriet, AR, he married Evelyn Juanita Phillips, who preceded him in death on February 2, 2004.
Mr. Jackson worked as a route salesman for Coca-Cola Bottling and Interstate Brands, retiring in 1989. He was a member of Local 534 Teamsters Union and Broadway Baptist Church. He started a mowing service, GLS Lawncare, with his grandson, Jason, in 1990. He continued mowing with his son, Steve, until age 92.
Sam enjoyed gardening, fishing and hunting, especially coon hunting. He was a founding member of the Sedalia Coon Hunters’ Association. He enjoyed spending time with his family, loved to work and was a hard worker. He will be remembered for his good nature. He always had a smile and a kind word for everyone. He was highly thought of by everybody who knew him.
Surviving are two children, Stephen Jackson (Judy), and Pamela Harden (Johnny), all of Sedalia; eleven grandchildren, Marilynn, Steven, Justin, Samantha, Derek, Jacques, Ty, Jason, Lesley, Brittney and Hillary; ten great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by two sons, Samuel and Thomas Joe; four brothers and two sisters.
Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, March 10, 2019 at Heckart Funeral Home in Sedalia, with Rev. David Beck officiating.
Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. until service time on Sunday at the funeral home.
Honorary bearers will be Shawn Cairer and Ty Harden.
Inurnment will be in Olive Branch Cemetery.
