Samuel J. Mcclasky

Samuel James McClasky, 72, of Sedalia, MO, passed away Monday, June 24, 2019 at his home.

He was born May 15, 1947 in Atchison, KS, a son of James Henry and Mary Leona (Boydston) McClasky.  On October 23, 2004 in Boonville, MO, he married Pamela G. McClasky, who survives of the home.

Samuel honorably served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War.  He was a member of the Smithville Christian Church and the Teamsters Union.  He enjoyed fishing, going to garage sales and flea markets, helping others keep their vehicles running, being in the pool, snorkeling, boating and target practicing with his sons.

He worked as a maintenance supervisor for the Central Missouri Food Bank and had also been a mechanic.

In addition to his wife, survivors include two sons, Mark S. McClasky (Stacy) of Kansas City, MO, Micah T. McClasky of Topeka, KS; one daughter, Maria L. McClasky of Valdez, AK; ten grandchildren, Keith Lurten, Briana Guess, Kayla White, Luke McClasky, Caleb Johnson, Cameron Hoehns, Marissa Johnson, Payton Johnson, Natilee Vaughan and Aubrey Vaughan; six great-grandchildren, Branden Lurten, Bailey Guess, Ava Lurten, Teagan Guess, Ethan Lurten and Brilynn Lurten; step-daughters, Rachel Johnson (Brian) of Sedalia, and Tina Vaughan (Jon) of Pace, FL; and brother-in-law, Gary Barrett (Diane), of Sedalia.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Lila Jean (McClasky) Leavitt; and grandchildren, Brenna Lurten and Briley Lurten.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, June 28, 2019 at Heckart Funeral Home, with Peggy Kirkpatrick officiating.

Casket bearers will be Mark McClasky, Adam Guess, Brian Johnson, Keith Lurten, Jon Vaughan and Micah McClasky.

Honorary bearers will be Joseph White, Caleb Johnson, Shane Hoehns, William Ivie and Ronnie Boydston.

Burial will be in Old Lamine Cemetery, Blackwater, MO.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until service time Friday at the funeral home.

A luncheon will follow the burial at the Church of Christ next to the cemetery.
