Sarah Ellen Tygart, 84, of Sedalia, MO, went to be with the Lord Saturday, September 1, 2018, at Bothwell Regional Health Center.
She was born September 7, 1933, in Sikeston, MO (Minor Switch), the daughter of Moledo Leland and Mary Edith (Williams) Mathis.
On December 5, 1953, in Redlands, CA, she married Johnny Bob Tygart.
Sarah worked in the kitchen at Washington School for many years, and also served alongside her husband who was a pastor. She never knew a stranger, and loved visiting with people and sharing the love of Jesus. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. Her hobbies included water color painting, yard work and camping. She had a special love for her grandchildren and animals, especially her cat Tigger. She had many beloved pets through the years.
Surviving are her husband, Johnny; three children, Sandra Lee Tygart, of Sedalia, John Alan Tygart, of Highlandville, MO, and Cynthia Lynn Green, of Springfield, MO; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild on the way; and her sister, LaVerne Jones.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Norma Jean Bradford; her brother, Archie Mathis; and her sister-in-law, Betty Mathis.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 5:00 p.m. Friday, September 7, at Calvary Baptist Church. A visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. until service time.
Burial will be at a later date in the Springfield Veterans Cemetery.
