Shirley Mae Lappat, 80, of Independence, formerly of Sedalia, passed away Monday, July 4, 2016, at Independence Manor.
She was born October 10, 1935, in Sedalia, daughter of Frank George and Dorothea Lavergne Franklin Lappat, who preceded her in death.
Shirley worked at Zephyr Manufacturing and was a member of Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church. She enjoyed spending time with her nieces and nephews and babysitting for her family. She loved following the events in Sedalia, anxiously awaiting the daily arrival of the Sedalia Democrat in the mail.
She is survived by a brother, Robert F. Lappat (Leona), of Independence; five nieces, five nephews and several great nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, July 8, 2016, at Heckart Funeral Home, with the Rev. Kenny Cripe officiating.
Casket bearers will be Steve Hedges, Dusty Lappat, Tristen Lappat, Gus Lappat, Frank Lappat and Garrett Ashford.
Burial will be in Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at the funeral home.
