Steven Junior Phillips, 65, of Sedalia, passed away Thursday, December 29, 2022, at Bothwell Regional Health Center.
He was born May 25, 1957, in Jefferson City, son of Elbert J. “Bud” and Dora Lee (Twyman) Phillips.
On May 23, 1993, in Sedalia, he married Colleen Kay (Paxton), who preceded him in death on October 30, 2022.
Steve was an adventurous outdoorsman. His hobbies included hunting, fishing, and singing karaoke.
He worked in factories over the years, including Lamy’s and Enersys. He was a Baptist.
Surviving are six children, Craig Phillips (Christi), of Quincy, IL, Melissa Hunton (Aaron), of Sedalia, Barry Monteer (Kirstie), of Mora, MO, Leah Monteer, of Sedalia, Charles Monteer (Jessica), of Sedalia, and Angela Monteer, of Sedalia; 25 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Bonnie Sue Phillips and Tammy N. Phillips, both of Sedalia.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Deborah Phillips and Cindy Phillips; a brother, Tony Phillips; and son, Timmy Monteer.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Monday, January 2, 2023, at Heckart Funeral Home, with Rev. Duane Duchesne officiating.
Casket bearers will be Craig Phillips, B.J. Monteer, Charlie Monteer, Aaron Hunton, Austin Hunton, Samuel Hunton, Barry Jackson II, and Taylor Batman.
Honorary bearers will be Bob Phillips, Leonard Butler, Joan Egner, Bryan “Bear” Kuhlman, Kai Phillips, Jess Dowler, Betty Bartlett, and Jim Steele.
Burial will be in Mt. Olive Cemetery near Florence.
The family will receive friends from 12:00 noon until service time Monday at the funeral home.
