Sture F. Pearson, 87, of Clinton, formerly of Independence, passed away Sunday, February 18, 2024, at Clinton Healthcare and Rehab.
He was born March 17, 1936, in Kearny, NJ, son of Sture and Ruth (Kallio) Pearson.
On January 19, 1957, in Sedalia, he married Charlotte Prall, who preceded him in death on May 3, 2008.
Sture was a veteran of the United States Air Force, with the rank of Airman First Class. He worked as an auditor and accountant for the USDA.
His hobbies included woodworking and swimming. After retiring, he volunteered at the Centerpoint Medical Center heart center for fifteen years. He will be remembered as an insightful and caring man who liked to laugh and tell (the same) dad jokes over and over.
Survivors include a son, Gary Paxton, of Clinton; three daughters, Dianne Pearson-Looney, of Hurst, TX, Catherine Pearson, of Clinton, and Pam Cecil, of Clinton; 14 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and multiple nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Jacqueline Paxton Cockrum; a son, Sture Frederick “Freddie” Pearson; three sisters, Irene Bauer, Eillen Pearson and Laura Pearson; and a brother, Ray Pearson.
Graveside services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, February 22, 2024, at Crown Hill Cemetery. Military honors will be conducted by the U.S. Air Force and VFW Post 2591.
Memorials are suggested to the family.
