Wanda Lee Pahlow, 87, of Sedalia, passed away Tuesday, July 25, 2017, at Bothwell Regional Health Center.
Wanda White Tavener Pahlow was born April 22, 1930 in Logan, Iowa, the youngest of seven children, born to Ephriam Arthur “Dick” White and Cora Alena Hines White.
When she was 12 years old they moved to a farm northwest of Windsor where with the exception of about two and a half years she lived for 38 years.
She was married to Lonnie “Jack” Tavener in 1947 and he preceded her in death in 1977. To this union one son, Gerry, was born.
On March 8, 1980 she was married to Charlie F. Pahlow who died in 1986.
Mrs. Pahlow attended Windsor High School and worked 31 years at International Shoe Factory retiring from there in 1980, when she moved to Sedalia.
After the death of her husband Charlie, she worked two years at Walmart and several years at Table Talk Toning and Tanning until its closing in 1996.
She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Sedalia and a member of V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary #2591 in Sedalia.
She loved to cook and was known for her wonderful pies and rolls. She enjoyed having big family dinners as long as her health permitted.
She was an avid gardener and strangers would stop by to tell her how much they enjoyed her flowers.
She loved country music, especially George Jones and Alan Jackson. She loved to dance and also loved spending time with the grandchildren
She is survived by one son, Gerry L Tavener (Barbara), of Sedalia; two stepsons, John W. Pahlow (Jeanette), who were like her own, and Raymond Pahlow; seven grandchildren, Michael Tavener, Robert Tavener, April Seggerman (Jeff), Robin Bynum (Chace), John C. Pahlow (Marley), Kevin Pahlow and Julie Baker; thirteen great-grandchildren, Eleanor, Addison, Lindsey, Kelsey, Gary, Jacob, Jacey, Emma, Suvonna, Cadence, Lane, Averie and our little charmer, Brandt; and several nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by all of her siblings, Dorothy Warner, Lelan White, Beulah Kirsch, Arthur White, Walter White and Everett White.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 29, 2017, at Heckart Funeral Home, with the Rev. Dr. Rob Ayers officiating.
Pallbearers will be Mike Tavener, Robert Tavener, Jeff Seggerman, Johnnie Pahlow, Jim Binder and Pete Phillips.
Burial will be in Laurel Oak Cemetery in Windsor.
The family will receive friends from 9:30 a.m. until service time Saturday at Heckart Funeral Home.
