William Albin

William Hugh Albin, 83, of Otterville, passed away Tuesday, February 27, 2018, at Katy Manor in Pilot Grove.

He was born October 16, 1934, in Holden, son of Hugh Milton Albin and Flora Pearl (Moore) Albin.

Bill served in the National Guard and was called to active duty during the Cuban Missile Crisis.

On September 25, 1959, in Otterville, he was married to Carolyn Marie (Castle), who survives of the home.

Bill earned a B.S. in Education from Central Missouri State College in Warrensburg. He taught industrial arts and coached basketball in Otterville and Wellington from 1956 to 1966. In 1963, he started his well drilling business, eventually locating it in Otterville as Albin Drilling and Quarrying. He retired from the family business in 2000. In addition, he raised cattle and stayed busy on the farm. He enjoyed collecting vintage cars.

Bill served his community on the Otterville Volunteer Fire Department Board and the IOOF Cemetery Board, and was a member of the Odd Fellows.

Surviving are his wife of 58 years, Carolyn, of the home; three daughters, Kathy Zink, Cheryl Albin and Christi McKinney (Steve), all of Otterville; five grandchildren, Kasey, Kaleb, Billy, Carrie Jo, and Katie; two great-grandchildren, Lexie and Rhett; a sister, Margaret Howerton, of Chilhowee; and a brother, John Albin, of Clinton.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Sue Rowan; and a brother, Robert Albin.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, March 3, at Heckart Funeral Home, with Jeff Page officiating.

The family will receive friends from 12:30 p.m. until service time Saturday at the funeral home.

Burial will be at a later date in IOOF Cemetery in Otterville.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to IOOF Cemetery.
