William Brady Deckard, 84, of Sedalia, passed away Monday, May 25, 2015, at Bothwell Regional Health Center.
He was born September 9, 1930, in Kansas City, MO, son of Brady E. and Ella (Whiteaker) Deckard. On September 17, 1949, in Lincoln, he was married to Juanita E. Vansel, who survives of the home.
Bill worked as a truck driver, heavy equipment operator and ready mix driver for over 40 years. He enjoyed woodworking and was a skilled carpenter. He was a member of the Sedalia Church of God.
In addition to his wife of 65 years, survivors include a son, William Brady Deckard Jr. (Cheryl), of Raytown; a grandson, Aaron (Amanda); a granddaughter, Sarah (Eric); eight great-grandchildren, Laci, Nikolas, Mikayla, Hunter, Emerald, Lia, Zoe and Alexis; and multiple nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Nadine Powell; and a brother, John Deckard.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 30, at Heckart Funeral Home, with the Rev. Randell Baugus officiating.
Casket bearers will be Darrell Sparks, Aaron Wilwerding, Robert Vansel, Jacob Vansel, Lucas Vansel and Kevin Miller.
Burial will be in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery south of Lincoln.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until service time Saturday at the funeral home.
Memorials are suggested to a charity of the donor’s choice.
