William Bybee

William Edward Bybee, 86, of Sedalia, died Monday, March 4, 2013, at his home.

He was born February 24, 1927, in Salisbury, MO, son of Everett Lee and Lula M. Reed Bybee. On September 1, 1950, he married Wanda Louise Stephenson, who preceded him in death. On May 26, 1996, in Elko, NV, he married Nancy Ann Wilson, who survives of the home.

Mr. Bybee retired from International Paper Company. He was a member of the Missouri Good Sam’s Club, Military Chapter and served as the Missouri State Director for two years. He was also a member of Sedalia Lodge 236 AF & AM, 40 & 8 Voiture 333, and the American Legion. He was a trustee on the Mt. Herman Cemetery board. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. He enjoyed RVing, woodworking and was an avid hunter in younger years.

In addition to his wife, Nancy, survivors include a son, Stephen Lee Bybee (Tanya), of Sedalia; two step-children, Mark Ratterree (Shelley), of Belton, and Nancy Haenni (Bryan), of Kansas City; a grandson, Michael Lee Bybee; two step-grandsons, Josh and Jeremy Ratterree; and two great-grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, Wanda, and his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Gene Bybee.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 9, at Heckart Funeral Home, with Jeff Page, Funeral Celebrant officiating.

Casket bearers will be Steve Galliher, Jimmy Wise, Jess Hoffpauir, Eldon Nelson, Marvin Linthicum and Bob Kruessel.

Burial will be in Mt. Herman Cemetery, with full military honors by the U.S. Navy and VFW Post 2591.

The family will receive friends from 12:30 p.m. until service time Saturday at Heckart Funeral Home.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the Sedalia Animal Shelter or the Canon Cancer Center.
