William Gordon Potter, 68, of Otterville, died Monday, August 13, 2018, at Bothwell Regional Health Center.
He was born February 4, 1950, in Sedalia, son of Samuel S. and Lela J. (Chancey) Potter.
On June 6, 1978, in Otterville, he married Connie (Pate), who preceded him in death in 1981.
Bill was the owner of Potter’s Express, a trucking company based out of Eudora, KS. He loved trucking across the country and seeing all of the sights. He especially liked taking his grandkids places to sight-see which included NASA sites across the country. He enjoyed playing softball, riding motorcycles, hunting and playing cards. Bill never knew a stranger and was a fun-loving guy. To know him was to love him. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Tipton.
Surviving are a daughter, Chaleah Potter, of Lee’s Summit; four grandchildren, Victoria, Caleb, Colton and Chloe; a stepson, Christopher Crouch, of Sedalia; a brother, Gary Potter, of Otterville; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Caroline Ingram; and two brothers, Steve Potter Jr. and John Potter.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday, August 17, at Heckart Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, August 18, at the funeral home.
Burial will follow in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Otterville.
Upon Bill’s request, a barbecue will be held following the burial at the Otterville Senior Center. Everyone is invited.
Memorials are suggested to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
