William K. Leicher

William (Bill) Kenneth Leicher, 87, of Sedalia, MO, passed peacefully to his heavenly home, Friday, January 26, 2018, at the University of Missouri Hospital in Columbia.

He was born April 16, 1930, in Hughesville, MO. The son of Otto William Leicher and Clara Kraft Leicher.

He attended Smelser grade school and graduated from Hughesville High School in 1948. He served honorably in the US Army during the Korean conflict.

On July 3, 1955, at Camp Branch Church in Sedalia, he was united in marriage to Grace Anne Lane. Together they shared 62 years of marriage.

He faithfully attended Bethany Baptist Church, where he loved singing.

Bill worked as a sheet metal worker with Local #2 in Kansas City for 38 years. He was a hard worker and took good care of his family.

He enjoyed being outside and working on the farm. His hobbies included working on motors, going to steam engine shows, and making things from wood. You could always count on him to fix just about anything.

Surviving is his wife, Grace; a daughter, Pamela Schultz (Scot) of Sedalia; a son, Lyndon Leicher (Kim) of Texas; five grandchildren, Bryan, Brent, Jaime, Kyle, and Rachel; four great-grandchildren; a sister, Marge Hirst of Oregon; and a brother, Melvin Leicher of Hughesville.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Wayne Leicher; a daughter, Sharon Deuel; and a sister, Norma Jean Chapp.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 1st, at Heckart Funeral Home in Sedalia, MO, with Pastor Craig Bowen officiating.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until service time Thursday at the funeral home.

Burial will be in the Memorial Park Cemetery with military honors by the US Army and VFW Post 2591.

Pall bearers will be Brent Farris, Rachel Leicher, David Leicher, Daren Leicher, Greg Chapp, Grandin Lane, David Warren and Danny Lane.

Memorials may be made to Show-Me Christian Youth Home or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
