William Russell “Russ” Boehm, III, 69, of Sedalia, passed away Wednesday, November 14, 2018, while taking a walk near his home.
He was born April 1, 1949, in Sedalia, the son of William Russell Boehm, II, and Kathleen Maria (Jagels) Boehm.
Russ served honorably in the U.S. Navy from 1968 to 1972. He retired from Pittsburg Corning where he was a laborer.
Russ was active in his church and community. At Christ and Trinity Lutheran Church he was a cantor. He sang in the community Messiah presentation at Christmastime each year. He volunteered with Meals on Wheels and provided transportation to those attending meals for the needy. He was also active in several veterans’ organizations. Russ enjoyed going to the movies, attending plays, and listening to gospel music. It was said that if Russ only had five cents left to his name, but you needed six cents, he would find a way to meet your need. He will be fondly remembered and greatly missed.
Surviving are his mother, Kathleen Boehm, of Raytown; four siblings, Jan Roever (Dave), of Richmond, VA, Diana Vaughan, of Columbia, Leonard Boehm (Cari), of Enid, OK, and David Boehm (Sharleen), of Smithton; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father.
A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, January 11, 2019, at Christ and Trinity Lutheran Church. A meal will follow the service.
Inurnment will be at 1:00 p.m. Friday, January 11, 2019, in the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Higginsville.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Christ and Trinity Lutheran Church or to a charity of your choice.
