Wilma I. Holman

Wilma Irene Holman, 105 years old, of Sedalia, went to be with the Lord Sunday, January 11, 2015, at Lakeside Meadows in Osage Beach, Missouri.

She was born September 8, 1909, daughter of the late Fred and Alta Napier Rodewald in North Bend, Nebraska. On June 23, 1934, she married Robert Holman, who died October 22, 1996. Wilma and Bob lived all their married life on the 800 acre farm north of Sedalia, Missouri, and successfully farmed the land, bred livestock and lovingly raised a family. They traveled a great deal together after retirement and enjoyed learning of this country’s history wherever they went. She was a devoted member of Hopewell Baptist Church for many years and enjoyed playing the piano at Sunday services and teaching Sunday school. Wilma’s talents also included crocheting, needle point and original works of art. She loved playing board and card games, and is fondly remembered for her spelling skills at Scrabble where she astounded all who played with her!

She is survived by her daughter, Donna Humble (Robert), of Linn Creek, Missouri; and son, Dennis Holman (Donna), of Sedalia, Missouri. Wilma was blessed and cherished her seven grandchildren, Paul and David DeWitt, Pam DeWitt Frantz, Sherri Holman Jones, Nita Holman Hargis, Harry Donnellan, Jr. and Grant Holman; nine great-grandchildren; 11 great-great grandchildren; and numerous nephews and nieces.

She was preceded in death by her sister, Helen; brothers, Howard, Eugene and Joseph Rodewald; and grandson, Paul DeWitt.

Wilma was an inspiration to her family throughout her life of 105 years and gave us many fond memories. She was greatly loved and will be warmly remembered by all those she touched!

Services will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, January 15, at Heckart Funeral Home, with the Rev. Neil Wolfe officiating. Hopewell Baptist Church invites family and friends to gather for a meal in celebration of Wilma’s life thereafter.

Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until service time Thursday at Heckart Funeral Home.

Memorial contributions are suggested to Hopewell Baptist Church, 17948 Highway EE, Sedalia, MO, 65301 or Lakeside Meadows Activity Division, 872 College Blvd., Osage Beach, MO, 65065.
