Wilma I. Walker, 82, of Sedalia, passed away Tuesday, December 14, 2021.
She was born May 14, 1939, in Pettis County, a daughter of the late Willard and Irene E. (Logan) Craig. On September 4, 1955, in Sedalia, Missouri by the Reverend F.R. Luckey, she married Dallis C. Walker, who preceded her in death on January 28, 1982.
Wilma worked 20 years as a housekeeper in the OB department at Bothwell Regional Health Center, a job she dearly loved. Each day she would slip into her supply closet “office” where she would pray for patients and hospital staff. She was known for keeping a stash of hard candy in her pocket to share.
She had a strong faith in Jesus and was bold in sharing it. She made sure that her children and grandchildren went to church, something that has passed down for four generations. She faithfully attended First United Methodist Church Celebration Center.
Family was important to her, and she had a personal relationship with each of her grandchildren. She was happy to join her children and grandchildren on family vacations and they were happy that she did.
Wilma was resourceful and didn’t waste anything. When she travelled to Israel and Ireland, she packed only a carry-on bag for her trips abroad.
She will be remembered as genuine, giving and always willing to help her children and grandchildren; and her love for butter pecan ice cream along with her passion for playing cards and Domino’s with her family, she often would win the game, and smile with a little twinkle in her eye when that happened. The tiniest of smirks and a giggle after the wins will be remembered.
Survivors include four sons, Rick Walker and John Walker, both of Sedalia, Dennis Walker (Tammy), of Smithton, and Brian Walker, of Sedalia; two siblings, Caroline Burke, of TN, and Gary Craig, of Sedalia; 11 grandchildren, Misty Vernig, Krystal Aguero Kala Canfora Becky Walker David Walker, Michael Walker, Melissa Burkhalter, Ryan Walker, Cody Walker, Amanda Trelow, and Jeffrey Walker; 21 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild .
